Social Media’s (SO CALLED) Friendship..!!

Social media…the coolest place for ‘hangouts’ nowadays. 90% of us, the youth, spend a major portion of our time on social media networks.  It has become an irreplacable part of our lives and some of us can’t even imagine our lives without it.
Social media came into existence just to fulfill one of the most basic needs of human beings, i.e., networking. Human beings, as we all know, are called ‘social animals’. That means they have the instinct and need to connect to their society, the people around them. Without it they can feel incomplete. When social media walked into our lives, we saw this need fulfilling in very easy way. We were so happy that we could be in contact with old buddies, relatives or any living individual on the earth. It was meant to be used as a tool to strengthen every relationship. But was it successful in its basic purpose ? Well its still debatable.
There was a recent research that people who are not on social media are happier than those who are active users. This is a big alarm for us which is warning us about what actually this so called ‘networking’ is doing to us and our relations. In reality, these sites have actually altered the meaning of the word ‘friends’. “He didnt like my dp, he is not my friend.” “She didnt comment on my status, I should just stop talking to her.” “You are my best friend, you will not like or comment on posts by that xyz person because i hate him/her.” All this has actually made friendship a very shallow thing. Friendship is a very beautiful and precious thing. It should not be judged by just a petty status update. Its high time we start understanding the true meaning of networking, friendships and relationships.

So, its my request to all my readers, that use these networking tools just as tools. Do not make them the anchor point of your relationships. Then only we can actually have true friendships and relationships and then only we can value them. Be happy and stay blessed. 🙂 🙂

  1. True..I was about to write one such blog but seems Ratan Tata had been proved right when he said ‘Ideas are no once monopoly,so act fast ‘ 😀
By the way nicely written, concise and right.
